About the Captain of the Ocean Cruiser Sailboat: Juan Carlos, Sailor and Master of the Sea
Juan Carlos has been the soul and helm of the Ocean Cruiser since 2012
To know him is to be carried by his story — a life shaped by winds and tides, driven by a profound love for sailing. His bond with the sea runs deep: he began sailing at age 6 and by 12 was already competing in high-level regattas, even alongside the then Prince of Asturias. That early connection with the ocean set his course in life.
Over the years, Juan Carlos turned his vocation into a mission — training new generations as a nautical and diving instructor, sharing his knowledge with authenticity, responsibility, and passion.
His greatest joy remains teaching the art of sailing — a noble craft that conveys freedom and respect for the sea.
With over four decades of sailing experience across coasts and oceans, Juan Carlos has gathered a treasure trove of stories — heartwarming, funny, and full of life — that he loves to share with everyone on board. To him, every passenger who boards the Ocean Cruiser becomes part of the crew, and his tales — rich with humor, emotion, and seafaring wisdom — spark smiles and awe alike.
Since 2012, he’s divided his time between training future skippers and sailors and running the Ocean Cruiser’s charter activity at Puerto Marina Benalmádena, where he leads each trip with dedication, friendliness, and professionalism.
Demanding in his craft but always generous, he teaches not just techniques but values. As an expert in maritime safety and survival, he instills respect for the sea — wild, beautiful, and at times unpredictable. For Juan Carlos, passenger safety is non-negotiable. He oversees every detail and keeps a watchful eye on everyone aboard — especially first-time sailors.

Yes, if weather and sea conditions permitting, we operate all year round. If there are no bookings, we are usually closed in January and February.
For boat trips/excursions, the business hours are from 10:00 am to 21:00 pm. In the case of a private event, we can arrange a charter outside these hours depending on the event.
Yes, a sailboat excursion is suitable activity for all ages, from babies to adults.
Yes, as long as they are supervised and do not disturb other passengers.
