Before stepping on board, almost everyone asks the same question: how much it really costs to hire a boat in Málaga. And the answer nearly always comes with fine print: platform fees, extras that appear at the end of the process and a “from” price that never turns out to be what you pay. Here we do it the other way round. We’re the operator that moors its classic wooden sailboat at Puerto Marina in Benalmádena, so in this guide you’ll see the real prices, where they come from and what they include, with no middlemen and no surprises at checkout.
You won’t find a single made-up figure anywhere in this article: every price you read is pulled live from the same system we use to confirm bookings. If we ever adjust a rate, it changes here on its own. That’s our idea of transparency: so you know what a trip out to sea costs before you even message us.
What the price of going out on a boat depends on
There’s no single “boat price”, and that’s good news: it means there’s a plan for almost any budget. What you pay in the end comes down to three very simple things, no tricks.
- The type of plan. Buying a single seat on a shared trip isn’t the same as booking the whole sailboat just for your group. They’re two ways of heading out to sea with different pricing logic, and choosing well is half the savings.
- The duration. The short trip around the bay lasts 1 h; an exclusive trip or a celebration is worked out by time and can run on at whatever pace your group sets.
- How many of you there are. The sailboat takes up to 12 people. On the shared trip you split the cost between all the passengers; on the private boat the whole capacity is yours.

Shared ticket or whole boat: the two starting prices
Almost every question about price is settled by choosing between these two gateways to the sea.
The cheaper one is the shared ticket: you book one or more seats on the one-hour trip around the bay of Benalmádena and share the deck with other travellers. It starts from 20,00 € per person, and it’s the perfect way in if there are two of you or you’re a family and you want to try the sea without stretching the budget.
The other gateway is the boat exclusively: you hire the whole sailboat with a skipper, no strangers on board and at whatever pace your group sets. Booking the whole boat starts from 240,00 € with skipper included. From there, the price rises according to the time on board and the type of event:
- Groups and celebrations. For a hen or stag do, a birthday or a get-together with friends, the private boat parties for small groups start from 510,00 € for the whole boat.
- Photo, video and production. If you need the sailboat as a set with character, the charter for photo and video shoots is booked from 408,00 €.
Not sure which one fits you? We break it down clearly in our guide on shared or private boat, which to choose for your plan.

What the price includes (and what we don’t charge you extra for)
A transparent price is one that tells you what you get for that figure. On all our trips, what makes the day special is already included, not as an extra that pops up at checkout:
- The professional, multilingual skipper, who knows every corner of the coast and speaks your language.
- The fuel and the departure from Dársena de Levante, C. Levante, Atraque 298, Benalmádena.
- The toast on board (cava, sangria or soft drinks) and the swim in open water when the sea allows.
- The bow sun deck to lie in the sun during the crossing.
And in all honesty, this is what’s not included, so there are no surprises: decoration for surprises or proposals, the professional photographer and the snorkel or paddleboard gear are separate. Another truth worth knowing in advance: in light wind we sail under engine, not by sail. It’s still a wonderful plan with plenty of charm, but it’s a gentle cruise, not a postcard-perfect regatta.

Why booking direct pays off
Here’s the part almost no website tells you. When you book a boat trip through a booking platform or an activities aggregator, that website adds its commission on top of the operator’s price. The result is twofold and bad for everyone: you pay more than the trip costs, and whoever’s at the helm earns less for the same work.
When you book directly with us, that margin disappears: the price you see is the price of the people who provide the boat, the skipper and the toast, with no middleman fees in between. And you gain things a middleman doesn’t give you: you talk to someone who knows the sea and that week’s forecast, you fine-tune your departure time to what you want, and you clear up any doubts with the crew before boarding. By the way, one of those doubts is often the paperwork: relax, you don’t need any licence to head out if the boat comes with a skipper.

The two prices, just as the booking system sees them
So there are no doubts left, here are the two live rate tables, untouched: the one for the shared trip (per person) and the one for the whole boat with skipper (for the entire sailboat).

Frequently asked questions
Do you have to leave a deposit to book?
Yes. As with any boat hire, the booking is confirmed with a deposit that blocks your date in the calendar, and the rest is paid on the day of the trip. The advantage of booking direct is that you don’t pay any platform commission on that deposit, and you can agree the payment details with the crew without any middlemen.
Can I cancel if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
The sea is in charge, and we know that all too well. If the weather forces us to call off the trip, we look for an alternative date so you don’t lose your experience. That’s another advantage of dealing directly with the operator and not with a third-party website. The specific cancellation conditions are set out in detail in our booking policy before you confirm.
Is the price per hour?
It depends on the plan. The shared trip is a fixed price per person for the 1 h outing. Hiring the boat exclusively is worked out by time on board: for example, 204,00 € an hour on a two-hour trip, with a better price per hour the longer the booking.
How many people fit on the boat?
Up to 12 people. On the shared trip that capacity is split between several groups sharing the departure; on an exclusive booking, all the seats are for your group.
Now you’ve got the numbers on the table, with no fine print and no surprises. If you’re after a simple, affordable plan, the shared one-hour trip around the bay is your ticket to the sea. And if you want the sailboat just for your group, the skippered boat charter in Benalmádena gives you the whole deck, the toast included and the pace you set. Either way, by booking direct you pay the real price, with no platform fees in between.
